St. Patrick's Day
The first shy rays of sun
are calling for new greenery
with a mother's patience.
The youngest shoots greet their siblings
as they come forth one by one.
Growing louder with every voice,
a wake-up call for everyone.
Until fern and bush and tree
stand tall and fresh and new again.
A deep breath of moist air.
Open your eyes to bright daylight.
